The first day of class I expect that every assignment was going to be type just like Eng 101. However, it was totally different because the professor used a new method which I did not know and never used in any other classes. I thought that using only a blog was going to make it hard. But I was wrong because is easier than typing in Microsoft word and printing our work. I think that the way that the professor teaches is really interesting because he came up with the theme of supernatural. As we went further more we came up with different topics. Such as symbols in a poem and what they meant in a poem or song. Another interesting topic is when he covered the different types of archetypes that are in every person which tell you whether you are an orphan or an innocent. I found out that my strongest archetype was innocent and I am sure I am. Because I believe that everyone is a good person and I trust then and at the end I found out that I was wrong. Finally, I believe that I put all effort in the final Project because I had to do many things to come up with my video. Also because our final project show what we learned in this semester and we search new things to finish our last blog.
I think that the best blog entry was from the group lost boy’s I really like it because it just take like 3 minutes to do a trailer and there video had many effects that made it interesting. The part that I liked the most is when one of them shoots his grandmother I think that was funny.
For my final project I made a short story about a children who is an orphan and her parents passwed away. The name of the story is "Hope" because she has faith on finding a new family that can give her love. I wrote the story from my mom experience because my grandmother died when she was 18 years old. My grandmother had an accident when she was crossing the street, and she was ran over by a man.
My parents where looking for my grandmother for more than a week. My mom felt gulty because she let her go alone. After the lost of my grandmother, now my grandfather just passed a way three months ago. My mom stop eating and got sick so continuously. So I used some parts of her own experience and put it into a short one but changing some parts.
Here is my story for those people who prefer to read it and I just remove the conversation between the girl and the boy.
"Hope"
When I was five years old my mother passed away. My dad was the most affected of all this. He started to drink and stop taking me to the school. He would constantly forget things, such as, go to work and completely forgot that he had a daughter to take care of. I do not blame him because I also felt the same way, but I tried to be strong and cheer him up. Once when we were going back home, we passed by a small restaurant that was located at the next corner. The restaurant had the same name as my mother; Esperanza, which means hope. The same day when we were walking down the street, suddenly my dad stopped walking and looked at the woman who was playing piano inside the restaurant. He kept looking at her and did not say a word. But I could imagine what he was thinking, he was thinking about my mom. That very first day, when my parents met each other in that same restaurant and when she used to play piano. He loved the way she played the piano and every single day at the same time he would sit in front of everyone and listen to my mother.After few days my dad decided to talk to her and asked her to go for a walk. From that day on, they kept seeing each other and one day, in the middle of the night he asked her to marry him. My mom accepted and the ceremony took place at Esperanza Restaurant because the owner was my grandfather.
Two years later my dad died of sadness. The rest of my family lived far away and the only person I had in my life was my aunt Kathy. She was my dad’s sister; she was the only one who decided to take care of me. She had no children and took custody of me, but soon she got a letter where it said that she could not take care of me. She felt powerless and the government decided to send me to an orphanage. It’s been six years since my aunt died and I have no family who can give me love. My aunt was the only one who used to visit me every single day, until one day she stopped doing it. That day I thought that she no longer wanted to see me. A week later, without knowing anything about her, a nun told me that someone was on the phone and she wanted to talk to me. I asked her who was it? She replied that it was my aunt. I was very upset because she never came to see me again. I told the nun that I was not going to answer the phone but she insisted. Ever since that day I regret for not having answered the call. She was calling to tell me how much she loved me and what I meant to her. Once she told me that where ever she goes, she will always be there for me. She just wanted to hear my voice for the last time, but I was selfish for not taking that call. I’m going to regret for the rest of my life. Now, I have neither my aunt nor my parents. That’s why I cry, every time I remember about it, the people that I love are no longer here and I am here all alone.
It was kind of hard to make the video because this is the first time that I make a video with pictures and captions. I had trouble making the video and find a song for my story because I could not find the appropiate song for my story. I also had trouble uploading my video to youtube but finally I know how to do it.
I was using xtranormal for my final project but some how it doesnt let me sign in to my account. So, I tried to make another account and is the same problem. Now, am going to use Power Point or other program to make my story.
According to Carol Pearson, who is a psychologist she identifies that all of us have an archetype that is original to our personality. This helps us to interact with the real world and interpret it. Such as when we see children with out a home or parents we are looking at the orphan archetype.
One of many archetypes is the explorer archetype; it’s the type of person who has the tenacity and spirit of having freedom. For example, in the book called Coraline by Neil Gaiman, the protagonist named Coraline goes through many events such as her curiosity to explore the new house cause her to find a new world and gets trapped into a drawing room or known as the other side. Now she has to find the way to go back home and find her real parents that were trapped in a mirror. To give a more detail of what happens in the story is when her parents decide to move to a new house. But there is something strange with the house because they are mysterious sounds and shadows. The first day Coraline meets her neighbors who live in the same house and finds them quite strange. Her neighbors prevent her from danger, such as Miss Forcible and Miss Spink who read her the tea leaves both told her that she was in danger. Also, the old man told her that the mice had a message for her, “Don’t go through the door” (Gaiman 16). Caroline does not pay attention to them and keeps exploring the house and finds a door that was made of brick. Her parents had told her that she is not suppose to entry to the door, the door is known as the other side. From this point she keeps exploring because her parents are so busy working in the computer that they do not pay attention to her.
Another example is the orphan archetype, it’s the type of person who independent and finds the way to survive in the real world.One day, Coraline mother goes to the supermarket and she decides to keep exploring and finds the other side. Where she discovers her other parents and her other neighbors but with the exception that they have button eyes.
Finally, she experienced the innocent archetype which is my archetype. We are the type of person who has trust, faith and optimism. The negative side is that we tend to believe that everybody is good and we can trust them. Just like Coraline trust her other parents at the beginning of the story where they made Coraline believe that they care about her and they want her as a daughter.
As I said we all have an archetype and we might have a strong one. If we get to know about our archetype it gives us knowledge of who we are and try to understand others. Also, we understand better what the authors are tying to expressed in their writing such as Neil Gaiman is trying to express in his writing.
I found a website to make my movie and is called Xtranormal. I tryed other websites but it didnt work so i decide to stay with Xtranormal. Last days I was looking at the effects that the program has and I think am fine with it. I just need to edit to some parts of my story and paste it to my video.
Now am sure about the theme of my movie, so its going to be about an innocent person that is going to tell her story to one of her friends of how she becomes an orphan. I still have to find out a website or a devise to make my video .
Right now I am thinking to do a video film for my final project. My topic would be a scary story or at least try to make it scary and detail. I have an idea of how to make it but I am not sure how to put certain things that i want in the video. so i have to think how am going to do it. Because on sunday I saw a show during the night that was about myths and people who dissapear without leaving paws so that gives me alittle bit of an idea of what i want in my video. But also am thinking to do a movie about an innocent person which is also my archetype that tells her story and how she becomes an orphan due to many events that happened to her.
I prefer the animated version than the real movie because I do not like to see the blood that occurs in the real movie. I decide to show this video because its shows how Macbeth begins as a soldier of the King Duncan and meets the three witches. in which the weird witches told him that he would become the King of Scotland but only if he killed the King Ducan. Macbeth decided to kill him so that he would come the king. He decides to murder his best friend Banquo, who suspect of the death of the king Duncan. The witches had told him that Macduff would kill him and thats exactly what happened. Macduffs was upset due to the death of his wife and children. After, the death of Macbeth his lady decided to suicide because she felt guilty of the deaths of the innocent people who were death already.
In this picture we have Daniel Eichner as Macbeth, and Kathleen Akerley as Lady Macbeth.
The reason that I choice this picture was because these two actors do not show tragedy and blood as the other pictures of Macbeth. Also, I found interesting this picture because the play called "Washington Shakespeare Company's Macbeth" was criticized by many audiences who felt uncomfortable with the performance of Daniel Eichner who play naked in front of the audience. The director of the play defend him self by saying that he only wanted to show how real can look and try something different after reading the history of the Scottish people as Shakespeare read too. So, this is where he uses a different version and decides to put the two actors on stage as trees and then be converted as humands due to the witches.
We can find some symbols in this picture as their smile that reflects happiness and the way that each other looks can show their love and passion to each other.

My archetype is innocent. According to EzineArticles is a person who has trust, faith and optimism. Also, we believe that everybody is nice and we can trust them. However, as she says that "when we start our journey we do not see people or situations with clear eyes" and that "We see them how we want to see them." I think that this really app plies to myself because sometimes I am so innocent that I believe everything that they tell me and I trust people. But this lesson has tech me to get to know more the person and now I think twice to start a new job or relationships.
I choose this picture because I remember when I was a little girl that I used to be a trouble maker and always wanted to know what could happened if I touch or try something new. Just like the innocent boy who is trying to put a knife in the plug without knowing that is danger. The only exception with me is that I never try something so danger such as touch the plug or any electronic devise and not play with matches.
Christina Georgina Rossetti born on December 5, 1830 and raised in London, England. The talent that she had of writing poems was inherited from her father and most people recognized her family as artists.On 1848 she got married with James Collinson, one of the youngest brothers of Pre-Raphaelite Brethren. However, their relationship did not last long because he decided to change his religion to Roman Catholicism. In 1860, she fall in love with another guy, whose name was Charles Cayley but when her bother, William told her that Charles was not Christian she decided not to marry him.
Since she was a child she started to write poems and at the age of 18 her first poem was publish and appeared in the Athenaeum. She kept writing poems and one most known until now is “The Gobbling Market” in 1862. She was diagnosed from cancer and died in 1894.
Gobbling Market is a story about two sisters who is Laura and Lizzie and that it seems that they live alone because the narrator does not mention their parents or any adult. Both sisters are tempted to eat forbidden and delicious fruits that the goblins were selling in the market. Lizzie is able to resist buying the fruits and runs home, but Laura could not resist and buys the fruits. She pays with her own hair and as she is eating the fruits she wants more and more. When she returns to her house and tells her sister what she has done she says to her that she would come back for more fruits. However, Laura can no longer hear the call of the goblins saying “come, buy” “come, buy from me.” She rejects to eat the fruits and starts to age prematurely. Lizzie starts to see how her sister was getting old and decides to look for them to buy the “antidote” (fruits) so that her sister can recover from the poison. The goblins thought that she was going to eat the fruits but when they saw that her intention was to take them home to give to her sister, the goblins got mad. They all begin to tearing her clothes, kicking her and throw all the fruits at her. The goblins try to put the juice of the fruits in her mouth but she resist and runs away to her house. She tells her sister Laura to drink all the juice from her body so that she can recover and that’s were she feels the bitter taste. Laura starts dizzy from consuming all the type of fruits but the antidote does works. Now she tells the story to her children of what had happened to her and reminding them that “there is no friend like a sister.”
In the story I found symbols such as the different types of fruits such as strawberry, blueberry, watermelon which means sexuality and temptation at the same time. Another symbol is Laura because she was attempted just like Eve when she eats the forbidden fruit. Also, in this case the gobbling was the one who tempted Laura and in Adam and Eve it was a snake that in reality was the devil.
In this story we have the Hero Archetype, who is Lizzie the only person that was not attempted to eat the delicious and poison fruit. She rescues her sister from the spell and she also sacrifices her self to get the antidote for her sister. Laura is the innocent who trust the goblins by eating the fruits and not think twice what she was doing.
I really like the story because it shows how two sisters were so together and that Lizzie sacrifice to help her sister Laura. But I can not erase of my mind the sentences of the goblins replying “Come buy”, “Come buy.” This story gives us, as readers to learned from mistakes and not trust anyone that in the future can cause consequences.
The piece of work that I choose to represent symbolism is a song called "Ilusion" by Tk. Tk is a rock band that has three members in which all of them are composers. Tk means Thalita Kumi in Aramaic and in Spanish means “Levantate y Anda” and in English is “Get up and Walk.” According to Tk website they like to transmit ideas, demonstrate different emotions and make people think about their songs.
One of the members is Juan Francisco Escobar who is the drummer of the group. He was born in Lima, Peru on December 22, 1973. His father is from Chile and his talent comes from his father who is a singer. He began to play the drummer at the age of thirteen. He says that “A person who does not appreciate the music has no soul” and this is where he accepts the proposal of becoming one of the members of Tk.
Miguel Gionocchio who plays the keyboard: Born in Lima, Peru on April 25, 1974. He is a professional musician and played the piano in “Conservatorio Nacional.” His family is well known as a traditional musicians and he has work in many important recording studios.
Emilio Perez de Armas (singer and play the guitar) born in Lima, peru on September 25, 1974. His parents are from Spain and the talent comes from his mother family who were raised around musicians.

In this song I found symbols and to make it easier I made a list of the words to show the denotation and connotation of the words/symbols. First, of all a Denotation are words with a specific definition from the dictionary. Connotation is an idea that can be implied or words that have a tone and emotional connection that a word has.
SYMBOLS
1. MOON
Denotation: any natural satellite of a planet
Connotation: as he sings "I'm here Without your love I cried to the moon Looking for you" he is trying to said that the moon is the witness of how he misses her and that he can not leave without her.
2. SMILE
Denotation: a facial expression characterized by turning up the corners of the mouth;
usually shows pleasure or amusement
Connotation: "I'm going after your Smile honey" he is remembering the good momments that he passed with her.
3. HONEY
Denotation: a sweet yellow liquid produced by bees
Connotation: Honey is one of many words that couples say to each other to show their love.

Denotation: of a particle or body or system; having a net amount of positiveor negative electric charge.
Connotation: feel overwhelm due to events that affect one person emotions. Example, "And you, You took my love, My heart, Emotionally charged"

Denotation: the course along which a person has walked or is walking in.
Connotation: memories that are present in the life of the guy who is in love with the dancer "There are still your steps"

Denotation: awing created by tracing
Connotation: shadows or memories that a person has been trough "Traces of me And some illusions"

Denotation: the act of deluding; deception by creating illusory ideas
Connotation: the theme of the singer is that he making the liseners to imagine events and let them thinking that something is going to happen in reality such as his video song.

Denotation: the top edge of a vessel
Connotation: one part of the body that is attractive to the other person.

Connotation: obey orders or fall in love but he means that everything that she touches will rendered in her foot or will service to her.

Denotation: a human limb; technically the part of the superior limb between the shoulder and the elbow but commonly used to refer to the whole superior limb.

The first time that I heard this song was in 2006. I really like the lyrics of the song because the singer uses his imagination to show the love of a soldier who's leg was broken due to an accident and a young lady who is a dancer. But their is a bad person who is trying to separate them and that both do not give up because they are in love. In the video song they also use symbols such as fire that means war, passion and toys as describing the setting of this dream; toys that become people.
One day I was watching “Hechos Puebla” that is Television news from my native country and they were reporting the story of “La China Poblana” and how she became so popular among Mexicans. She was known as a beautiful young lady who made her own clothes with little pieces of cloth. Her statue is located in Puebla, Mexico and when the reporter said that her nationality was from China. I was so surprised because I always taught that she was Mexican. The day I was so interested in knowing more about her and I ask myself why is she called then “La china Poblana” (the Chinese Poblana) and how she arrived in Mexico. The day I look one most known website from Mexico called http://www.esmas.com/ninos/reportajes/472668.html. I search on the legend that now it became a national folkloric of Mexico called “La China Poblana."
In this website I found that she lived in China for a long time and her real name was Mirrha. She was kidnap by the pirates who sailed for many months, while she was coming with her parents. Mirrha was sell to the highest bidder, Miguel Sosa who lived in Puebla, Mexico. Then the young lady instead of be treated as rich women she became a slave.
After a while they recognized her as a princess and she made her own clothes that she was distinguish from other women.
According to http://www.houstonculture.org/mexico/lachina.html. One day she wear a long skirt that was made of red cloth with green edges and decorated of sequins and go along with with a white blouse that was embroidige. She also combed her hair in two braids and put red ribbons around her hair.
Mirrha the day went out and people started to look at her and cause to call her “La China Poblana” because she made her own clothes that was different from other women.
I knew little bit about “La China Poblana” but what I did not know is that she serve as a slave and she was kidnap. Also, her desings of making her own cloths became so famous in Mexico that now is traditionally to wear the long skirt and blouse with the colors of the flag of Mexico (green, white and red).
